My name is Kostas Makedos. I am an Engineer.

Experience

I am a Senior Devops and Cloud Engineer with over 15 years of experience in Software Delivery and Operations. Before jumping to Devops bandwagon I was a Senior Systems Administrator for as many years. You can say I have infinite experience on computers not working properly :)

Imagine I have been working with Debian since Woody version (you do know that Debian follows Toy Story characters, don’t you?). I also have in my desk somewhere some original Ubuntu CDs from version 5 when Ubuntu was sending them at your home (we were a few persons using Linux on the planet back then :)

My technical background in software delivery extends from bare metal deployments to cloud installations (AWS, EC2, ECS) and to even more complex multi-cluster solutions (Service Mesh based, Zero-Trust architectures).

But as a friend always used to say:
It is not Cloud Computing, it is just someone else’s computer.

Software Development

Software Development is one of my greatest joys in life.

I prefer to write C code when I am bored but I am very comfortable using Python for a quick project or Go for a more serious and faster app.

Beyond specific technologies and tools, I pride myself on my ability to learn quickly and provide solutions to any kind of problem, using clear and effective communication.

And when I have some spare time, I like to educate junior developers, introducing them to required tooling and best practices so they can have a jump start in their work.
